Critical Edition Violin Solo Part-This new edition of the violin solo part to the Korngold Violin Concerto in D Major is the first-ever to include Jascha Heifetz's performance notations edited by Endre Granat one of his star proteges. Born in Austria Korngold was forced into US exile by the annexation of Austria by the Nazis. He vowed to give up composing anything other than film music until Hitler was defeated. With the end of World War II he retired from films to concentrate on music for the concert hall. The violin concerto was the first such work that Korngold wrote following some initial persuasion from violinist and fellow émigré Bronislaw Huberman. Korngold was hurt by the assumption that he hadsold his integrity to Hollywood. He was thus determined to prove himself with a work that combined vitality and superb craftsmanship. Korngold composed his Violin Concerto in D major Op.35 in 1945 dedicating it to Alma Mahler the widow of his childhood mentor Gustav Mahler. The work was premiered on February 15 1947 by Jascha Heifetz and the St. Louis Symphony under conductor Vladimir Golschmann. It received the most enthusiastic ovation in St. Louis concert history at the time. On March 30 1947 Heifetz played the concerto in Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic conducted by Efrem Kurtz: the broadcast performance was recorded on transcription discs. Heifetz's performance launched the work into the standard repertoire and it quickly became Korngold's most popular piece. Concerning Heifetz's performance of the work the composer wrote In spite of the demand for virtuosity in the finale the work with its many melodic and lyric episodes was contemplated more for a Caruso than for a Paganini. It is needless to say how delighted I am to have my concerto performed by Caruso and Paganini in one person: Jascha Heifetz.

For String Orchestra-Eros was given its world premiere in Moscow Russia in the Hall of Composers at the XXIX Annual Fall Moscow New Music Festival sponsored by the Union of Russian Composers. It was the first American work to be premiered at the Festival in over twodecades. In the following years Eros has been presented by the Union of Ukrainian Composers at their Kiev International New Music Festival and by other orchestras in Russia and Ukraine. This score is the first publication of the revised composition.The composer rewrote twenty-one seconds of music in the first movement ?Song? which is in this score. The work was dedicated to Krzysztof Penderecki and presented to him on the occasion of his 75th birthday. Parts available on rental from thepublisher.

Polonaise de Concert-In 1848 the thirteen year old Henryk Wieniawski wrote the first sketches to his Polonaise in D major. The composition was published in Germany in 1853 as Polonaise de Concert in D major op. 4 for violin with piano or orchestra accompaniment. When the work was re-published in Paris (1858) the title changed to Polonaise Brilliante. Tremendously popular already during the composer's life time this work has been on the repertory of virtually every virtuoso violinist ever since. This new Critical Urtext Edition corrects obvious misprints while keeping the format of the 1853 first edition printing the textural changes on the Paris version as foot notes.

Ashoob (Calligraphy No. 14) was written for Dariush Saghafi and the Carpe Diem String Quartet. Reza Valis ?Calligraphies? series isa set of an ongoing cycle of works based on the Persian modal system the ?Dastgâh ? which he has been composing since2000. The basic compositional material of the work is derived from a fast tempo genre called the ?Reng ? which is usually performed at the end of a traditional Persian music concert. Versions for Persian Santoor with string quartet (original) andfor string quartet only are available from the publisher. The original version was premiered on March 18-20 2016 at the McConnell Arts Center in Columbus Ohio by Dariush Saghafi Santoor and the Carpe Diem String Quartet.

Bassoon and Piano Reduction-Bernhard Heiden's Concerto for Bassoon and Chamber Orchestra is a two-movement work scored for an accompaniment of string orchestra and two horns. This reduction for bassoon and piano is by the composer. The chamber orchestra accompaniment is available on rental from the publisher.

Concerto for Violin and Chamber Ensemble-Adolphe's concerto for violin and orchestra is inspired by the life of Joachim Prinz a rabbi in Berlin under the Hitler regime who bravely warned Jews of the Holocaust and saved many lives. Later in the United States Prinz became a friend of Martin Luther King Jr. and an outspoken leader of the Civil Rights Movement. His remarkable voice is represented by the solo violin throughout the work. Two versions are available from the publisher--one for orchestra and another for chamber ensemble of 10 players.

Commissioned by the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra this concertino was originally conceived as a part of a complete educational concertprogram. Four concertini each featuring a different instrumental family within the chamber orchestra are played in succession to demonstrate the characteristic sounds of those instruments. The music is thematically related but not identical to the Concertino for Chamber Orchestra (parts available on rental from the publisher) which serves as the program's closer demonstrating all of theorchestral sections playing together. This program is suggested by the composer for orchestra concerts however each instrumental concertino can beperformed individually and stands quite effectively on its own as a short chamber recital piece.

Lukas Foss was asked by Artie Shaw in the 1940s for a new work. Foss composed Elegy for clarinet and orchestra. The manuscript was given to Richard Stoltzman by Foss just before his death. Foss and Stoltzman concertized together for many years but never played this work. Stoltzman edited this beautiful work and presented the world premiere transcription for clarinet and piano in 2014. We are honored to publish this Foss gem in Richard Stoltzman's series for clarinet.

Clarinet and Piano Charles Neidich 21st Century Series for Clarinet-Written for virtuoso clarinetist Heinrich Baermann Concertino would become the first work of an impressive oeuvre for clarinet one which along with that of Mozart Spohr and Brahms constitutes the backbone of the repertoire.Internationally-recognized clarinetist Charles Neidich unites for the first time Weber's original text with the edition published by Baermann's son which had formed the basis of most subsequent editions. Also presented areexamples from Cyrille Rose's 1879 edition which was the foundation of the French tradition and which held much more closely to Weber's original. This new critical edition inspires those learning the piece to develop their ownpersonal yet informed interpretation of Weber's premiere clarinet masterpiece.
