Composed for Emma Halnan winner of The Arts Club ? Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award 2016.The composer comments that ?for the first ten years of this century I lived and composed on the Gower Peninsula an area of sandy beaches and dramatic cliff scenery with coastal caves; the first area in the UK to be officially designated as one of outstanding natural beauty. Living in an old mill alongside the Bury Pill stream I wrote from a stable block enjoying a vista across Cheriton Valley and the river to Ryers Down. This work is a musical reflection of time spent there.?Originally scored for Flute and Piano this publication comprises the Harp adaptationby Heather Wrighton. It doesn't include the Flute part as a single part. Flautists should purchase the Flute and Piano edition.

Beyond Dark consists of one movement which is in three sections fast-slow-fast. Influences from the modern jazz harmony of Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea and also traditional Japanese instruments such as the koto and shakahachi.The piece lends itself to alternative fingerings which helps to give the piece an exotic flavour - some of which are included in the score included some of these optional fingerings in the score.
