$98.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Fanfare Band - Grade 3 SKU: BT.AMP-033-020 Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Philip Sparke. Anglo Music Midway Series. Hymns & Chorals. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2003. Anglo Music Press #AMP 033-020. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-033-020). This enchanting melody is from the fourth movement of Bach’s Cantata 140 which was composed in 1731 using the parable of the wise and foolish virgins as the text. The work is beautiful in its simplicity with only three melodic lines, demonstrating Bach’s counterpoint at its best. For greatest effect it is suggested that the trumpets and trombones play behind the band or to the right and left of the stage.
Johann Sebastian Bach schrieb in seinem musikalisch überaus produktiven Leben unzählige Kantaten. $130.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Fanfare Band - Grade 3 SKU: BT.DHP-1104910-120 A Christmas Fantasy on Themes by Bach and Handel. Arranged by Robert van Beringen. Christmas Collection. Transcription. Score Only. Composed 2010. 20 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1104910-120. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1104910-120). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. In his own distinctive style, Robert van Beringen has composed a very unique fantasy on three themes by the famous Baroque composers Johann Sebastian Bach and George Friedrich Händel. Van Beringen used Bachâ??s chorale Brich an, o schönes Morgenlicht (â??Break forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Lightâ??) from his Christmas Oratorio and the recitative Behold, a Virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel, God with Us from Händelâ??s Messiah. A perfect way to say Merry Christmas in music!
$23.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The song Bist du bei mir, geh’ ich mit Freuden zum Sterben und zu meiner Ruh’ (BWV 508) was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach for his second wife Anna Magdalena (1701-1760), who he married in 1721.The popularity of this song is probably due to the magnificent, sensitive melody that fits wonderfully with the text, in which a loved one is told that even death is beautiful “as long as you are there with me.†This beautiful arrangement by Jacob de Haan is suitable for use in any concert.

Galea et Bellum was commissioned by the Excelsior Schraard music society (Friesland, the Netherlands). The work tells the story of a rare helmet that was discovered in a church in the Frisian village of Schettens in 2015. Research revealed that it had been the property of Skelte van Aysma, a Frisian officer who fought in the armies of the Princes of Orange Maurice and Frederick Henry during the Eighty Years’ War. This little piece of history was the starting point for this composition. As a leitmotif, the hymn ‘Ach wie flüchtig, ach wie nichtig ist der Menschen Leben’ (‘Ah, how fleeting, ah how insignificant’) has been used. This 17th century melody by Michel Franck, inan arrangement by Johann Sebastian Bach, initially appears only in fragments, but grows to full stature toward the end of the work. An ideal contest piece with lots of challenges for your band.
Arranged by Jan de Haan. Musica Sacra. Hymns & Chorals. Score Only. Composed 2009. 16 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1094676-120. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1094676-120). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten was composed by Georg Neumark in about 1641 and was subtitled ‘Trostlied’ literally meaning consolation song. Songbooks at the time showed the popularity of this song and it is still well-known today partly due to Johann Sebastian Bach’s use of the melody for one of his own chorals. In Jan de Haan’s arrangement the choral is heard twice, once, alternating with the original motif from the introduction and a second time, without interruption, reflecting the composer’s original intention - a song of consolation.
$21.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

from Cantata No 208 'The Hunt Cantata'-L?immense production de Jean-Sébastien B...(+)

Wachet auf ruft uns die Stimme-This enchanting melody is from the fourth movement of Bach’s Cantata 140 which was composed in 1731 using the parable of the wise and foolish virgins as the text. The work is beautiful in its simplicity with only three melodic lines demonstrating Bach’s counterpoint at its best. For greatest effect it is suggested that the trumpets and trombones play behind the band or to the right and left of the stage.

Jesu bleibet meine Freude from Cantata 147-Bach’s appointment as the Cantor at Leipzig’s Thomaskirche in 1723 required him to produce a new cantata for every Sunday service. Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring is taken from his Cantata No.147 and is unusually elaborate treated more like an aria than a chorale. It is perhaps the best-loved cantata movement from Bach’s entire output and is a certain crowd pleaser for your concert programme.

Harmony Festival is Jan de Haan’s expression of his great respect for the composer of composers Johann Sebastian Bach. He has used the four note names which form the name of this composer as the basis of this piece. This four note motif provides us with the most beautiful and unexpected chord combinations creating a ‘festival of harmonies’!
