French composer Paul Jeanjean (1874-1928) was known primarily for his Clarinet compositions however he also composed significantly for other wind instruments. His Prelude Et Scherzo for Bassoon and Piano remains prominent in the repertoire. As a noted teacher and composer the Paris Conservatoire often called upon Jeanjean to provide music for their own use. Prelude Et Scherzo was composed to be used as a competition and audition piece at the institution. The Prelude is in 6/8 meter and lyrical contrasted bythe fast staccato Scherzo. For all advanced bassoonists Jeanjean's Prelude Et Scherzo is a challenging yet exciting addition to the repertoire.

Bach's Partita BWV 1013 has been skilfully arranged for solo Bassoon by William Waterhouse.

To this day Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) remains one of the most prolific composers for wind instruments despite being a violinist himself. His Duettino for Two Bassoons is no exception to the composer's success. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. Composed in 1954 Bozza's Duettino for Two Bassoons is a virtuosic work addressing advanced features including complex rhythms chromaticism a wide range and articulation. As music educationalist Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza's compositions 'his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistently sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities.'

Weihnachtsliedersammlung für Bläser-Gott Zur Ehre is a collection of hymns and chorales compiled by Jan de Haan. Each pieces are arranged in a four part flexible instrumentation so enabling them to be used by bands with a small number of players. Volume 2 contains many famous German and international Christmas carols. Although not all pieces may be recognised instantly they will fit perfectly in any church service or concert.
