Three Songs from the Motion Picture Soundtrack-One of Disneyâ??s most popular and endearing animated films Aladdin was released in 1992 followed by the live action version in 2019. Three songs from the 2019 Motion Picture Soundtrack â?? â??Arabian Nightsâ?? â??A Whole New Worldâ?? and â??Prince Aliâ?? â?? have been arranged for flexible quartet by Robert van Beringen which enables any ensemble to get acquainted with this incredible music.

Melodic charm bel canto sensibility impressionist harmony à la Française and jazz rhythm influences unite in this quartet for three B-flat Clarinets and Bass Clarinet. Yellow Green was premiered on July 23rd 2013 at the Teatro Municipal de Niterói (Rio de Janeiro) by the musicians of the Omega Quartet: Maurício Silva Deusiel da Cunha de Souza Diego Abreu and Mateus Falkemback (bass clarinet).    Approximately 9 minutes in length the title – Yellow Green – is a tribute to the two colours of the Brazilian flag. The introduction gives way to a vast Fugue (marked Vivace)dipped in the colours of swing. The central Adagio floats a dreamy timeless melody. The brief finale brings together the fugue’s thematic material with one last recommendation for the performers: “Feel jazz”. This invigorating work was recorded for the Chant de Linos label by its dedicatees the Omega Quartet clarinetists.

French composer and conductor Henri Tomasi (1901-1971) published Three Divertissements for Clarinet Quartet in 1964. As with his other wind compositions Three Divertissements was well-received by audiences. Tomasi was born in Marseille but his Father and Mother were originally from La Casinca in Corsica. Despite being pressured into musical studies by his parents Tomasi dreamed of becoming a sailor and during the summer he stayed with his Grandmother in Corsica where he learnt traditional Corsican songs. However in 1921 he began his studies at the Paris Conservatoire and went on to become ahigh profile composer and conductor. Tomasi did not forget his Corsican routes often incorporating themes of the songs he had learnt during the summers with his Grandmother into his compositions. The Three Divertissements are named; 1) Proceedings 2) Masquerade and 3) Rounds. This Tomasi piece is suitable to an advanced Clarinet Quartet providing an exciting alternative addition to the ensemble repertoire.

Composed by Pierre-Max Dubois  Quartuor is a really energetic and melodious piece for four Bb Clarinets. Lasting approximately 10 minutes it is divided into four distinct parts: 1. Allegretto 2. Allegro 3. Pastorale and 4. Musette. During the whole piece the Clarinets complete each other’s part on this fast work. The first part has a repetitive theme with some variations while the second one seems to be playing more on the aspects of the low and high ranges. The “Pastorale” section is slower and slightly less cheerful. The piece ends on the “Musette” which brings back some energybefore the end. This piece would be perfect to play during a concert or a recital. Pierre Max Dubois (1930-1995) was a French composer who was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1955. Mainly composing classical music his works are mainly for woodwinds. He is one of the founder of the Les Six and which included his professor Darius Milhaud.

3 Original Pieces for Clarinet Quartet. Three works with quotations from well-known composers are contained in this tongue-in-cheek collection. Otto M. Schwarz has produced an outstanding recording of these works with members of the Slovak Philharmonic, which is available on all streaming and download platforms. 1. THE AMADEUS WATCH: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart?s own watch ? if he had one ? ticks away. The ticking carries us back in time with a piece that stylistically imitates the music of the 18th century in melody, harmony and rhythm. 2. COMPOSERS DINNER IN HEAVEN: At the music publisher De Haske, a composers? dinner was an integral part of trade fairs or meetings. The dinner was very popular among anyone who sat at it, not least of all because it offered one the opportunity to chat informally.? Based on such a meeting, Otto M. Schwarz has a composed a work that describes an imaginary dinner of great classical masters on a cloud in the sky. Guess which composers are present by the references in the form of musical quotations and stylistic devices! 3. SCHERZO FOR CLARINET QUARTET: The work, in 12/8 time, moves in a rapid furioso. Underscored by a continues eighth note rhythm, the work creates in the listener the sensation of a frantic rollercoaster ride. The theme moves throughout all the parts and, following a chromatically moving chord sequence, ends in a dramatic crescendo.

As a pianist composer producer and arranger Jean-Michel Defaye mainly created pieces for brass and wind instruments. In 2016, he successfully completed his Master's degree in Wind Band Conducting with great distinction.
