This collection features three instrumental pieces from Ola Gjeilo's Winter Songs CD (Decca Classics 2017) plus a piano version of Across the Vast Eternal Sky - here all scored for solo piano.

(Ubi Caritas III)-Ola Gjeilo's Sacred Heart is the final of his three Ubi Caritas settings. This work is scored for SSAATTBB Choir with String Quartet. Musically independent from Gjeilo's other two Ubi Caritas settings Sacred Heart can stand alone or be performed with the two previous works. A lovely String Quartet accompaniment balances with the choir making this a stunning and peaceful adaptation of such a thoughtful text.

Chorale by Ola Gjeilo was recorded in one take with no preparation or preconceived thoughts other than an idea to improvise a piece that was a pure expression of what Gjeilo felt in that particular moment which turned out to be something very slow warm and introspective.Chorale is from Gjeilo's album Piano Improvisations which is the follow-up to Ola Gjeilo’s 2007 debut Stone Rose.Chorale is a quiet meditation that gently soothes as it allows the mind to wander.

?Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages is a closely related sequel to my Ubi Caritas published in 2007. Re-imagining some of the same material such as the main theme from the first piece Ubi Caritas II is in one sense a more sunny version of its prequel. While Ubi Caritas II functions as an independent work it is also intended to be used in combination with the other piece for example as prelude/postlude ?bookends? perhaps yielding a sense of unity and conclusion to the concert or recording. Eric Wilson along with the composer this version for wind band maintains all the wonder and magic of the original work.The opening is ethereal and somber with sustained chords in Clarinets and bowed Percussion supporting a delicate Oboe solo. The middle section shifts the principal modality from minor to major and the layering orchestration and rising tessitura creates a tremendousrush of energy that leads to a triumphant climax. The closing section returns to the timbre of the opening but now painted with hopefulness and healing.

This setting of Hildegard von Bingen's Ave Generosa text uses a hauntingly joyful tonality, paying homage to the mysterious story of Mary.A beautiful middle section is surrounded by contrasting, modal beginning and ending sections.
