Johann Sebastian Bach's flute sonata BWV 1032 was written during his period as Kapellmeister to Prince Leopold in Cothen from 1717 to 1723. The origin of BWV 1020, 1031, and 1035 is more difficult to ascertain, and is still the subject of some debate. Despite this, they are included here because they are excellent and enjoyable pieces worthy of Bach's genius, and because they are from a period which is not over-endowed with good flute music. This performing edition of these sonatas has been provided with suggested breath marks and an arrangement of the original figured bass accompaniment. The book includes 2 CD's-- one a complete performance featuring flute, harpsichord and cello, and the other in "music minus one" format without the flute. Score and solo part included.
