Mandolinist/guitarist/educator/conductor Mark Davis has been deeply involved with the American mandolin and guitar scene since the 1970’s. Originally a guitarist, Mr. Davis was exposed to the classical mandolin methodology of Giuseppe Pettine through the Providence teacher Hibbard Perry and his Providence Mandolin Orchestra (PMO). Davis began his recording career with the groundbreaking “Music for Guitar and Mandolin” (1980) and helped to co-found the American Mandolin and Guitar Summer School. He has directed the PMO since 1989 with international tours, multiple recordings and a penchant for programming contemporary works.
Mr. Davis has toured internationally for many decades, representing the US mandolin scene at plucked string festivals throughout Europe, Australia and Japan.
In the 21st century, Mr. Davis has continued his touring and recordings in a duo with his wife, the guitarist Beverly Davis, and as founder/director of the New American Mandolin Ensemble (NAME) and the Hampton Trio. (Hide extended text) ... (Read all)
