Allegro in B-flat major of a Quintet for Clarinet two Violins Viola and Violoncello K.Anh.91 (516c). This Allegro fragment was possibly sketched in 1787 two years before composition of the A major Clarinet Quintet K.581. It is 93 bars long and is complete in all instrumental parts but was abandoned abruptly at the bottom of the fourth page. The distinguished Mozart scholar Robert Levin has completed the sketch with the sole purpose of bringing this extraordinary work into the concert hall to add to the small but choice number of those Mozart works which have always been the most treasured of every clarinettist’s repertoire.

Cette sonate dite facile ou « sonata semplice » est la plus célèbre de Mozart. Son sous-titre est trompeur car elle n’est pas aussi facile que l’on pourrait croire. En effet, la maîtrise pianistique et la science de Mozart échouent à révéler la réelle difficulté de cette sonate. Sa création date du 26 juin 1788, peu d’années avant la disparition du compositeur. La finalité de cette création serait mi-pédagogique, mi-commerciale d’où l’objet de son surnom.Cette pièce a trois mouvements : Allegro, Andante et Rondo-allegretto. Elle débute par un allegro sur un tempo assez allant avec une basse appelée basse d’Alberti en rythme de croche, se déployant tout au long du mouvement. La structure du premier mouvement est une forme sonate. La mélodie comporte deux sujets sur la tonique et à la réexposition se présente le thème sur la sous-dominante. La basse dAlberti exposée dans ce premier mouvement est développée d’une manière assez étendue en fluidité dans le deuxième mouvement, l’andante.Seul l’allegro est représenté dans cette partition, ce premier mouvement, très connu, ensorcelle de nombreux pianistes de tous niveaux grâce à la relative aisance de son interprétation et à l’enchantement et à la frivolité qui s’en dégage. / Date parution : 2023-03-21/ Répertoire / Piano Solo

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's horn concertos: the Mozart expert Henrik Wiese edits the central work genre of Viennese classicism according to the current status of international Mozart research. Mozart wrote the Horn Concerto K. 417 - like the other works of this genre as well - for his horn-playing friend Joseph Leutgeb. The jokes which the composer made at Leutgeb's expense are wellknown. For example, he called the dedicatee a 'donkey” in the autograph, and, as Henrik Wiese evidences in his preface, Mozart also occasionally enjoyed a bit of tomfoolery with the soloist in the musical text as well. Otherwise the editor's task was anything but amusing. The main source - the autograph score - is incomplete: missing are the close of Movement I as well as the entire slow middle movement. For these two sections, Wiese used a copy of the score from the archive of the publisher Johann André. The unusual circumstance that Mozart generally left the horn part almost unmarked recurs in the Concerto K. 417 and was deliberately maintained in the Urtext edition./ Répertoire / Ensemble à Vent
