Better known as one of the foremost conductors of the 20th century, Walter also found a place in contemporary composition in Vienna in the early part of the 1900s. This piece lasts about 12 minutes, and it plays continuously, although it is made up of 16 small movements. Throughout, the four string players form a group: sometimes the clarinet is caught up with them, but more often it is like a person pursuing an independent train of thought: sometimes talking to itself, sometimes conversational, sometimes singing The starting point for my Quintet was Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities: like the book, my piece is composed from many small contrasting ideas that are constantly transforming, some coming to the fore as others recede. This quintet is dedicated to Hugh Sargent, who commissioned it.

Carus published the original version of Bruckner's Te Deum for soloists, choir and large orchestra (Carus 27.190) in the fall of 2015. In order to make this work available for performance by smaller-sized ensembles [und einem weiteren Benutzerkreis zuganglich zu machen] Carus now presents it in an arrangement for brass quintet and organ. The brass parts are orientated essentially towards those in Bruckner's orchestral version, while the organ part follows the original string parts. [Damit kann nun auch unter eingeschrankten Bedingungen dieses grossartige Werk in einer adaquaten, stimmigen Form zur Auffuhrung gebracht werden.] As the voice parts (soloists and choir) in this reduced version are identical with those of the original the vocal score and choral score of the latter version can be used.
