This opening piece by Japanese composer Satoshi Yagisawa expresses joy, gratitude, hope and courage. The three sections are performed without interruption. We hear ‘Joy’ in the brilliant introduction, ‘Gratitude’ in the chorale-like middle section and ‘Courage and Hope’ in the closing section. A fantastic new addition to the Grade 4 repertoire for Concert Band. Der Schlussteil heißt Courage and Hope. Satoshi Yagisawa’s often-dramatic concert band works are not only played in his homeland of Japan, but also throughout Asia and further a_x001F_field. The commission for this work in fact came from Taiwan, upon which Yagisawa drew inspiration from the traditional hunting songs of the Taroko, a people native to Eastern Taiwan.
