Edward Elgar widmete diesen 'Liebesgruss' seiner spateren Frau. Die Komposition gilt als eine seiner bekanntesten. Geschrieben ursprunglich fur Violine und Klavier, belegen Notizen Elgars, dass er das Stuck auch fur andere Besetzungen vorgesehen hatte. Die Fassung fur Oboe ist eine wunderbare Bereicherung des Romantik-Repertoires und eignet sich bestens fur Unterricht und Konzert. Es ist leicht bis mittelschwer und kann so bereits von leicht fortgeschrittenen Oboisten gespielt werden, die beweglich in der Tonart D-Dur sind.
