Beim Komponieren von Wein, Weib und Gesang ließ er sich von einem Satz, der Martin Luther zugeschrieben wird, inspirieren: Wer nicht liebt Wein, Weib und Gesang, der bleibt ein Narr sein Leben lang“. Ein lebhafter, charmanter Konzertwalzer, der in einer feurigen Coda endet! l’instar du Beau Danube bleu, la valse Wein, Weib und Gesang, op. 333 (Aimer, boire et chanter, 1869), a été composée, l’origine, pour le Wiener Männergesangverein (Chœur d’Hommes de Vienne). Johann Strauss s’est inspiré d’une citation attribuée Martin Luther « Qui n'aime point le vin, les femmes ni le chant restera sot toute sa vie » (“Wer nicht liebt Wein, Weib und Gesang, der bleibt ein Narr sein Leben lang”).La version originale de Strauss s’ouvre avec un long passage d’ouverture de près de cent mesures (Quasi religioso, suivie d’un Allegro), très rarement joué. Cette transcription pour Orchestre d’Harmonie en est égalementdépourvue, mais débute néanmoins avec une introduction brillante (Maestoso) d’où se détache la première ligne mélodique qui revient plus tard, dans le quatrième air de valse. Le premier thème représente la quintessence de l’art de vivre viennois ; Strauss s’appuie sur la chanson boire Stoß an, stoß an, du Liebchen mein (“Trinquons, ma bien-aimée”) extraite de son opérette Wiener Blut (Sang viennois). Les trois airs qui suivent font également preuve de vivacité et d’élégance. Et bien entendu, comme dans toutes les autres valses de concert, le thème initial revient dans le passage de fin. Une courte cadence endiablée clôt l’œuvre.

This arrangement of the popular Polovtsian Dances by Russian composer Borodin contains seven dances from the original manuscript, some of which have been used in the musical Kismet, as well as being performed by such famous names as Tony Bennett and Bing Crosby. Includes a solo for snare drum! Masamicz Amono bewerkte de ´Polovetser Dansen´ van de rus Alexander Borodin voor harmonieorkest. Borodin begon in 1869 aan de opera, Prins Igor, volgens sommigen zijn voornaamste werk. De opera bevat deze Polovetser Dansen,die meestal als een zelfstandig stuk wordt uitgevoerd en in deze vorm waarschijnlijk zijn meest bekende compositie is. Bij zijn dood was de opera niet volledig, daar hij onvoldoende tijd had voor componeren, gezien zijn werkals scheikundige. De opera werd postuum afgemaakt door Nikolaj Rimski-Korsakov en Aleksandr Glazoenov.Masamicz Amano nahm sich die beliebten Polovetzer Tänze des russischen Komponisten Alexander Borodin vor, die auch schon im Musical Kismet verwendet und als Lied von Tony Bennet, Bing Crosby und den Four Aces interpretiert wurden. Amano schuf daraus ein überzeugendes Arrangement für Blasorchester, in dem die Snare Drum solistisch glänzen darf. Les Danses polovtsiennes offrent l’exemple le plus spectaculaire de l’exotisme musical russe, d’une sensualité pre, sauvage, et d’une rare virtuosité orchestrale. Ce divertissement dansé et chanté en plusieurs épisodes, quintessence de l'opéra Le Prince Igor (1879), contient tout ce qui suscita la faveur de l'Europe fin XIXe : désir d'ailleurs, attraction pour un Orient plus rêvé que réel. Masamicz Amano en a réalisé une version étonnante pour Orchestre d’Harmonie avec un délicieux solo de caisse claire.Le Polovtsian Dances offrono l’esempio più spettacolare dell’esotismo musicale russo, fatto di una sensualit selvaggia e di una rara virtuosit orchestrale. Questo divertimento ballato e cantato in vari episodi, quintessenza dell’opera Il Principe Igor (1879), contiene tutto ciò che l’Europa del XIX secolo adora: desiderio di posti lontani, attrazione per un oriente più sognato che reale. L’arrangiamento di Masamicz Amano propone un delizioso assolo per rullante.

White Light was commissioned by Fumiko Teramoto, oboist with the Musashino Grand Concert Band from Tokyo, Japan. The request was for a moderately slow piece, of intermediate difficulty, which included White in the title, as this is her lucky colour. Composer Philip Sparke decided to use this suggestion to write a piece that was bright and light in terms of harmony and colour, with much use of simple major and minor chords and an emphasis on pure and transparent timbres. He was also keen to capture the essence and history of the oboe as a solo instrument - the piece is pastoral in character and often almost baroque in style. Also available for oboe and concert band (AMP317-010/140). Wit is de gelukskleur van het opdrachtgevende orkest van dit uitdagende solowerk voor hobo en piano. De caractère pastoral et de style plutôt baroque, White Light expose avec passion la quintessence du hautbois. Satoshi Yagisawa’s often-dramatic concert band works are not only played in his homeland of Japan, but also throughout Asia and further a_x001F_field. The commission for this work in fact came from Taiwan, upon which Yagisawa drew inspiration from the traditional hunting songs of the Taroko, a people native to Eastern Taiwan. De indrukwekkende werken van Satoshi Yagisawa worden niet enkel in zijn thuisland Japan veel gespeeld, maar staan intussen wereldwijd op het programma. In dit werk, dat hij schreef in opdracht van de Taiwain Clinic, haalde de componist zijn inspiratie uit traditionale jachtliederen van de Taroko stam in Oost-Taiwan. Die oft dramatischen Blasorchesterwerke von Satoshi Yagisawa werden nicht nur in seiner Heimat Japan, sondern in ganz Asien und darüber hinaus gespielt. Aus Taiwan kam der Auftrag zu diesem Werk, zu dem er sich von den traditionellen Jagdliedern des in Osttaiwan beheimateten Volkes der Taroko inspirieren ließ.
