Sing, Choirs! is a library in miniature. It contains many of the Christian church's popular traditional anthems, including at least one example that will be suitable for each of the major services of the year. A number of Anglican chants (Psalms, Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis) are included, set out in a way that should enable those who are unfamiliar with the style to perform them easily. The selection of movements from the Mass can be used to enrich the music of the liturgy in services. Many of the works in Sing, Choirs! are presented in their original form, such as Bruckner's Locus Iste and Mozart's Laudate Dominum . Others are arrangements, adaptations or longer pieces, abridged to bring them into the scope of a useable anthem, including choral arrangements of Handel's Largo , the Ave Marias by Schubert and by Bach and Gounod, and Franck's Panis Angelicus amongst many others. This collection has practicability as a priority. The Organ parts can be played on either the Piano or the Keyboard. An excellent compilation of twenty-four anthems for Mixed Voice Choirs featuring texts taken from the Psalms featuring new works and performing editions published for the first time. The anthology spans four centuries and includes material by many of the greatest composers of English choral music including William Harris Herbert Howells Samuel Sebastian Wesley and Bernard Rose.

Psalm 122. Par HAKIM NAJI. In gleich zwei Fassungen hat der renommierte libanesisch-französische Komponist Naji Hakim seine Komposition Laetatus sum für gemischten Chor (SATB) und Orgel (2. Orgel ad lib.) vorgelegt, die hier in nur einer Notenausgabe vereint sind. Neben einer vollständigen Vertonung des 122. Psalms, die für feierliche Introitus und Prozessionen sowie festliche Pontifikal-Vespern und Konzerte gleichermaßen gut geeignet ist, findet sich auch eine gekürzte Fassung dieses Psalms Davids. Sie ist hervorragend als feierliches Introitus (oder Offertorium) an Sonntagen im Jahreskreis zu verwenden. Das bis zu achtstimmige Werk entstand als Auftragskomposition zum 150-jährigen Bestehen des Knabenchors am Kölner Dom und wurde in einer „Orgelfeierstunde' des Kölner Doms 2015 uraufgeführt. In der Tat lässt sich Hakims besondere Affinität zur Orgel auch hier nicht leugnen. Der mit zahlreichen Orgel- und Kompositionspreisen dekorierte Langlais-Schüler sieht für die höchst anspruchsvolle und umfangreiche Orgelpartie dieses lateinischsprachigen Chorwerks gleich zwei Orgeln vor. Da sie aber nicht gleichzeitig, sondern stets im Wechsel zum Einsatz kommen, kann der gesamte Part auch auf nur einer Orgel gespielt werden. 24 Psalms For The Church's Year-In 1628 Schutz published musical settings of 102 psalms which had recently been printed in German translation and paraphrased in strophic rhymed verses.This anthology selects 24 psalms from across the Church's year and presents them in sparkling new English translations which match the original meter and rhyming scheme. These miniature masterpieces are a wonderful resource for choirs of all sizes and abilities and may be sung in parts or in unison a capella or with organ.

The Vocal Score for Judith Weir's Truly I Tell You a setting of three different Biblical passages from Psalms and Mark's gospel. This work was first performed by the Choir of Westminster Abbey at theCommonwealth Day Observance on the 9th of March 2015. It is arranged for SSATB Chorus and Organ. Truly I Tell You is a setting of Psalms 8: 4-10 and 34: 1-4 and Mark 10: 15. The thread thatmarries these three texts together is the comparison between man and the name of God the literal exposition of the word of God (working beautifully within the context of such a brilliantly-composed piece of music) and thehopeful entering of God's kingdom in general. In the December 2015 edition of RSCM Church Music Quarterly Magazine the reviewer states that this piece is 'highly recommended' and is a 'useful churchanthem that is not too difficult'. Judith Weir is a British composer whose music often draws influence from her many extra-musical interests such as medieval history and Scottish traditionalmusic. In 2005 Weir received a CBE for her services to music and in 2014 she was appointed the Master of the Queen's Music becoming the first female holder of a post which dates back to 1626.

For the Chichester festival of 1965 Leonard Bernstein was commissioned to write these psalms. The world premeiere took place on May 7th 1965 in the Philharmonic Hall New York. Scored for SATB and Organ or Piano accompaniment.

Reduction For Satb/Organ-John McCabe's Psalm-Cantata arranged for Soprano Baritone SATB choir and Organ by Iain Farrington.This work was commissioned by the English Baroque Choir and their music director Jeremy Jackman who gave the first performance on 16th March 2013 at St. John’s SmithSquare London.'I’ve wanted to write a choral/instrumental piece based on texts from the Psalms for a very long time so this commission from the English Baroque Choir and their music director Jeremy Jackman (to whom the work is dedicated) was a wonderful opportunity to put this idea into practice. I decided to write a kind of latter-day equivalent to the Bachcantatas with two soloists (soprano and baritone). The texts are derived from a variety of Psalm sources: some in Latin some in English a meditation by Savonarola and a Henry Vaughan poem.' - John McCabe
