Trevor Wye (b. 1935) is an English flautist pedagogue and music editor who has been playing the flute for over 65 years. Despite not attending any conservatory or university he has held professorships at both theGuildhall School of Music and the RNCM. He has written several successful educational flute works and edited many more. The third volume of Wye’s Flute Duets contains six easy and tuneful Sonatas by the19th century composer and flautist Eugène Walkiers (1793-1866) taken from his opus 55. Walkiers is best remembered for his Flute duets trios and quartets compositions which are far superior to his solo works.

Arranger's Note - An edition of music like anything else is a product of its own time. During the 1980s guitarists of my generation were starting to become aware of stylistic concerns in the interpretation ofearly music. There was a movement towards stylistic authenticity an attempt to re-discover the original intentions of early composers and recreate the aesthetic elements that were appropriate to their music. This growing movementprompted me to research the lute music of J.S. Bach and to develop my own edition of it. Frank Koonce. This attractive spiral-bound book contains reference information sources and historical data facsimilies ofthe original manuscript as well as the music of J.S. Bach arranged for classical guitar in modern notation.

Parts for Hans Abrahamsen's Flowersongs (2012 version) for Flute Oboe and Clarinet. 'I wrote Flowersongs for three Flutes in the spring of 1973 when I was 20 years old. Looking back now 40 years begins to feel like a really long time and sometimes I think that it is as if someone in 1973 is talking about a piece from 1933! But in spite of this long time this is still a very important piece for me. In Flowersongs along with works like '10 Preludes' for String Quartet and 'Stratifications' for Orchestra I feel that I was on my way to finding my own voice in the middle of the music of the great CentralEuropean modernist tradition from the 50s and the reaction from the 60s of the new simplicity minimalism and the possibility of poly-stilisme. The English title Flowersongs links to the flower power movement and the hippie culture of the 60s and the early 70s and the work is trying to find the power inherent in this imaginary world. Many of my later works have titles in German for example 'Winternacht' (1976/78) 'Nacht und Trumpeten' (1981) and much later 'Schnee' (2006-08). If we think of Flowersongs in German it must be Blumenlieder and to me it now sounds suddenly very different more romantic and into the world of Schumann. Perhaps it is also a way in which to hear the piece? Another thing is that the correct English title is Flower Songs (as two words) and not as one word like in German or Danish. This is perhaps the German connection as I incorrectly wrote the title as one word; but perhaps it is also a kind of naivety which is also part of the work. I cannot help but carry with me to this day the ideas from my early works. For example there are clear links in this work from the 8th Prelude from '10 Preludes' and to Canon 2a from 'Schnee' from 2008. This work is written for the wonderful ensemble recherche and it was meeting them that made me consider making a version of

pour Flûte seule for Solo Flute-Having studied under Jean Pierre Rampal and Tony Aubin at the Conservatoire National de Paris flautist Guy-Claude Luypaerts now divides his time between his work as a soloist teacher and orchestral conductor without neglecting his com­positional activity. Luypaerts has remained true to his childhood land: for this resident of the seaside village of Panne in western Flanders the North Sea coastline is a continual source of inspiration. This beloved landscape where sea sky and dune embrace was the setting for the composition of the Partita for Flute in August 2014. The title can be seen as a tribute to two essentialworks in the solo Flute repertoire: Bach’s Partita in A Minor BWV 1013 and the Sonata in A Minor Wq 179 by his son Carl Philipp Emanuel. Dedicated to flautist Maxence Larrieu who included it in the programme of his International Competition (2015) the Partita contains three movements. The energetic determination of Patience contrasts with the dreamy exhalations of Volutes before the Chimères are unleashed upon an angry sea.

pour quatre Flûtes en Ut-Three Pieces For Four Flutes by Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) was written for a Flute Quartet in 1979. This melodic work is really popular among flautists. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas chamber works and ballets among others.

Contemporary Japanese composer Yuko Uebayashi moved to Paris in 1998. Uebayashi's works have been met with much success in both Japan and France Au Delà Du Temps for 2 Flutes and Piano being no exception. Flautist Jean Ferrandis described Uebayashi's music as 'gems that although they are so different they yet belong to the same world a world of vivacity dreams tenderness humour and one that is subtly contradicted by vehemence virtuosity melancholy and sorrow.' Au Delà Du Temps contains four movements; 1) The distant light of the night 2) Thedancing light 3) The white light and 4) The rotating light in the dream. Au Delà Du Temps is modern in style exploiting tonality rhythm and the ensemble. A typical performance lasts about 18 minutes. Uebayashi's Au Delà Du Temps for 2 Flutes and Piano is a sublime addition to the ensemble repertoire.
