Ludwig Van Beethoven's Piano Sonata in C-sharp minor Op.27 No.2 most famously known as the Moonlight Sonata is one of his most popular and well known solo piano works. This single sheet contains the opening movement Adagio sostenuto which is a very beautiful and gentle movement with an underlying intensity. Beethoven composa sa deuxième « sonata quasi una fantasia » de l?opus 27 en 1801 entre sa première et sa seconde symphonie. Cette sonate fut rebaptisée « sonate de la Tonnelle » par ses contemporains. Ils imaginèrent le compositeur Beethoven composer cette ?uvre à l?ombre d?une tonnelle. En 1832, plusieurs années après le décès du compositeur, le célèbre titre de clair de lune fut évoqué par le poète Ludwig Rallstab. Celui-ci percevait dans le premier mouvement de la sonate une promenade nocturne au Clair de lune, sur le lac des Quatre-Cantons à Lucerne en Suisse.
