Johann Sebastian Bach Band 1

One of the best-known and most popular classical themes comes from Johann Sebastian Bach's Third Suite for Orchestra. The Air on a G-string has already been adapted for many instrumental combinations but arrangements for concert-band are a comparatively rare commodity. This void is filled with this highly competent wind-band setting by Jan Bosveld. Needless to say that the work is suitable for many occasions.

This volume devised by Martin Weyer contains organ music of easy to medium technical difficulty for use at communion. The broad range of styles encompasses Johann Sebastian Bach and early Classical works through to the late Romantic period.

The album contains original compositions and first publications as well as arrangements for organ and twelve pieces for communion in settings by Johann Sebastian Bach with melodies and texts appropriate to communion. Some of the pieces can also be performed with solo instruments (in C, Bb or F). Corresponding instrumental parts are included with the score.

Toccata In D Minor is possibly one of Johann Sebastian Bach's most recognisable pieces. Here it has been arranged for Brass band in a Rock style giving the piece a more upbeat feel and creating a huge show stopper. This selection includes a full score and all of the parts needed to perform this substantial arrangement.

This edition complements the volume of Keyboard Works of Doubtful Authenticity (BA 5250).It contains works which have survived bearing Johann Sebastian Bach?s name or were later attributed to Bach but where Bach has been ruled out as composer in the opinion of the editors on stylistic grounds or following a critical examination of the sources.
