Friedrich Seitz : Concerto for Violin and Piano Op. 22 in D-Major

Friedrich Seitz (1848 1918) was one of the best-known and most sought-after violinists of his day. The Student Concerto Op.12 starts with a resolute allegro in G minor followed by a gentle adagio in E-flat major and flows into a cheerful dance-like final move-ment in G major. In order to play this violinists must be able to master 1st to 3rd positions.The series forms an ideal continuation of the Sassmannshaus 'Early Start' string methods but can also be used to supplement any other string tutor.

The series “Bärenreiter’s Concert Pieces” has now been expanded to include the three-movement Student Concerto op. 22 by Friedrich Seitz in arrangements for viola (BA 8986) and cello (BA 8987) previously published for violin (BA 8979). The concertos have been transposed making them ideal for beginners and young pupils. Concise forewords by the renowned string pedagogues Christoph and Kurt Sassmannshaus introduce the work and point out the relevant playing techniques required.
