The clarinet method op. 63 by Carl Baermann from 1867 is still a standard work in classical clarinet education today. The thoroughly revised new edition aims at reviewing the educational concept, which is still valid today, for modern lessons, adjusting the music and texts, and sensibly complementing the teaching contents.The editor who draws on many years of experience as a clarinettist in an orchestra and university lecturer of clarinet has succeeded in adapting the valuable teaching material to the requirements of today while maintaining the basic methodology. The content of the text and the performance directions of the original were linguistically modernized and occasionally extended by further ideas from the teaching practice, such as concepts for warming up, breathing exercises, literature suggestions or tips for daily practising. Further additions of scale and triad studies in all major and minor keys make this method a comprehensive and thorough work of study which not only serves as teaching material for young and adult beginners, but is also a valuable compendium of scale exercises and studies for advanced musicians and is ideal for training velocity and dexterity.The Clarinet Method Vols. 1 and 2 contain not only scales and technical fingering exercises but also Baermann's popular performance pieces, like Romanze (No. 14), which are ideal as performance pieces, yet at the same time train both technique and musical expressiveness. Urtextausgabe-Eight years after he had composed his first two Clarinet Sonatas op. 49 Reger confessed in a letter to a friend that he was once again committing 'a new crime against harmony and counterpoint'. He was referring to the Sonata forClarinet and Pianoforte op. 107. Reger made a point of not destroying the chamber music character of the work by having too much virtuosic padding. 'Brahms developed classic examples of what the style was meant to be like'.Alongside the sonatas Henle's Urtext edition also contains two charming 'encores': a Tarantella in g minor and an Album Leaf in E flat major. The Sonata op. 49 2 is for clarinet in A. The other pieces are for clarinet in B flat.

March Waltz And Polka were first composed in 1915 as a collection of three Piano duets Three Easy Pieces by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. They were written for the composer to playwith his children as they were learning the Piano so had a considerably easier second part. They have been arranged for Clarinet and Piano by the American musician Ray Jackendoff a Professor of Linguistics who has also had awide-ranging performance career s a classical clarinettist. Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971) was born and brought up in Saint Petersburg before settling first in Paris and finally in America. Despite his classical musicaleducation he is best remembered as one of the main proponents of serialism.

This collection of music arranged for B-flat clarinet and piano is divided into two sections. The first features eleven folk songs from around the world that can be played by intermediate-level performers (both instruments). Thesecond section consists of ten compositions that are well known and were written in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries by esteemed composers such as Pachelbel Handel J.S. Bach Mendelssohn and Beethoven. This music can beplayed by intermediate-level clarinetists and the piano accompaniment will be of moderate challenge.
