Kantate Zum Reformationsfest (In Der Bearbeitung Von Wilhelm Friedemann Bach). Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. The present cantata draws on two of Bach’s earlier works. The original form was the cantata 'Alles, was von Gott geboren' [Weimar 1715, BWV 80a]. A second version [BWV 80b] was written between 1727 and 1731 in Leipzig. Frontier Vision is a concert or contest piece based on three elements: the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Reformation Day, the Martin Luther melody, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God (Ein Feste Burg ist unser Gott) on whichthis composition is based, and thirdly the spreading of the evangelical movement in the late 19th century, of which the analogous storyline forms the structural basis of this work. Multi-cultural ethnic influences, along with the driving rhythms thatreflect the perseverance and hard work of those mission-minded pioneers, are both important components that make Frontier Vision an outstanding choice for your concert or contest. Frontier Vision was the test piece for the seconddivision in the Dutch National Brass Band Championships 2017.Frontier Vision is een concert- of wedstrijdwerk ter gelegenheid van de 500ste hervormingsdag. Vijfhonderd jaar geleden presenteerde de Duitse theoloog Maarten Luther zijn 95 stellingen. Enkele jaren later schreef hij het lied ‘Ein Feste Burgist unser Gott’ Zijn werk vormde de basis van de verspreiding van een evangelische beweging over Noord-Amerika, eind 19e eeuw. Multiculturele etnische invloeden in combinatie met stuwende ritmes die de vasthoudendheid en het harde werk van pioniersmet een missie weerspiegelen, zijn belangrijke elementen die dit werk een uitstekende keus voor uw orkest maken. La composition repose sur cette mélodie connue et est aussi inspirée du mouvement évangélique qui s’est propagé la fin du XIXe siècle. Des allusions ces origines multiculturelles, ainsi que des rythmes forts qui représentent la persévéranceet le travail laborieux des pionniers menés par la mission forment des éléments importants qui font de Frontier Vision un choix excellent pour vos concerts ou vos concours. The Reformation cantata Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott BWV 80b, published by Carus-Verlag for the first time in a practical performing edition, remained unknown to Bach scholars until well into the 20th century. The evidence of its existence is three fragments of the first folio of Bach's score, which can be dated to the years 1728-1731. By contrast, the long-familiar expanded new version of the cantata with its powerful opening chorus (BWV 80) dates from the 1730s or 1740s. It only survives in a copy of Bach's score, but this allows conclusions to be drawn about the history of the versions; thus, by using the fragments mentioned above, it has been possible to reconstruct the first version. This result is a Bach cantata which is less extensive and in a more concise normal format, with reduced wind instruments. A relaxed, contrapuntal four-part chorale movement with the first and last verses of the Lutheran hymn forms the framework, and the other movements are the same as in the later new version. This simpler cantata is also entirely suitable for celebrating Reformation Day, as Bach did around 1730. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3108000.
