Concerto in B-flat major for Piano and Orchestra No. 27

The Bohuslav Martinu Complete Edition III/1/5. Par MARTINU BOHUSLAV. “Incarnation” (1956), Bohuslav Martinu’s fourth piano concerto, follows an atypical two-movement structure. It was composed for Martinu’s friend Rudolf Firkušný, who played from a copy of the autograph until 1970, when the composition was first put into print. The next work, “Concerto in B flat major for Piano and Orchestra”, known under the name “Fantasia Concertante”, was to be Martinu’s very last concert work. The concerto in three movements, composed at the request of Swiss pianist Margrit Weber, is quite different from the previous work in terms of its compositional means. In this case, Martinu strongly influenced the edition of the work. The present volume of the Complete Edition of works by Bohuslav Martinu is based mainly on contemporary copies containing the composer’s own modifications. Cadenzas and Lead-ins for Piano Concertos-This volume contains all of Beethoven’s surviving cadenzas and lead-ins for Piano concertos: both for his own concertos nos. 1 4 for his Piano arrangement of the Violin Concerto op. 61 as well as for Mozart’sConcerto in d minor K. 466. They were in all probability not intended for his own use as Beethoven’s improvisatory skills were legendary. Much of his life was spent in Bayreuth working for the court of Wilhelmine of Prussia Margravine of Bayreuth teaching her composition and violin. During his lifetime he composed a variety of orchestra and chamber music including this Concerto in B-flat Major in three movements: Allegro ma non troppo Andante and Allegretto. In this edition Victor Van Puijenbroeck has created a piano reduction of the orchestral score and also has adapted the lute part to be played on guitar. Included are parts for both lute(the part has been adapted from lute tablature to modern notation) and guitar (capotasto). B-flat major op. 19-Although the sources to Beethoven’s Piano Concerto Op. 19 are generally known many misconceptions and misinterpretations are put right in this Bärenreiter edition based exclusively on the authentic sources. Jonathan Del Mar’s scholarly-critical edition corrects misreadings of Beethoven’s autograph which were already present in the first edition and had subsequently been incorporated into other editions of this work.

Par MOZART WOLFGANG AMADEUS. Mozart Requiem (K.626) (Ostrzyga completion) (Vocal Score) This publication offers a source-critical edition of Mozart’s fragmentary “Requiem” as well as an alternative to the traditional Süssmayr version. It makes it possible to perform 1) the fragment, identified in print in both the score and the parts, 2) the authentic sections left incomplete by Mozart, now in a stylistically appropriate orchestration, and 3) those sections missing entirely in the fragment, newly added in Mozart’s idiom taking into account historical additions by Süssmayr and Eybler. When completing the fragment, the editor drew on comprehensive comparative and analytical studies of Mozart’s church style and compositional workmanship. The influence of Handel and Bach manifested in his final years, particularly in the “Requiem” fragment, is taken into account in those sections requiring completion or fresh composition. At two points readers may choose between alternative movements (or sections), since proceeding from Süssmayr’s historical version, two divergent options cannot be weighed against each other but each one may well reflect Mozart’s intentions: the “Lacrimosa” may end with or without “Amen” fugue, and the “Sanctus” may begin in the customary D major or in D minor.
