Composed by Claude Barthélémy Okawati's is the first piece from the series 'Irrawady' (also named 'Asia is running through my ears') for Alto or Soprano Saxophone and electro-acoustic system. Commissioned by a Cultural Centre this series is made of four parts and two interludes (without Saxophone) and was used as a piece of contest. This particular piece Okawati's is representing a hotel located in between rice fields in Bali. At night there is no silence but the noise of frogs and birds flying around. The player is supposed to impersonate one of the birds.Lasting 5'34 minutes the score ofthis piece is written in modern writing and requires some good knowledge of modern and contemporary pieces and some very good technical knowledge.
