Full score for Violin Cello and Piano of Felix Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No.1 In D minor Op.49 and Piano Trio No.2 in C minor Op.66. Upon hearing the first trio Robert Schumann declared Mendelssohn is the Mozart of the nineteenth century! Written in the composer's famously flowing Romantic style these two works are staples of the repertoire and anchors of many chamber music series. Both appear here for the first time in a single and affordable study edition. Mendelssohn drew upon a variety of influences in his musical style - chiefly Bach Mozart and Beethoven. Like the other German composers of his generation Mendelssohn created works that mirror the era'stension between Classicism and Romanticism. For Piano Trio.The Brook Sings Loud was commissioned by the Aberdeen Chamber Music Club for the Kungsbacka Trio.'As this was one of the first pieces that the Club commissioned I thought it would be appropriatefor the piece to have some sort of Scottish theme or influence. I have always been interested in Pibroch (Piobaireachd) - classical bagpipe music that was prevalent from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries in the ScottishHighlands. Trio (Op. 10) was composed c.1940 and first published in 1943. It is scored for Clarinet Cello and Piano. One of Frankel’s earliest works it is light and pleasing showing how the composer was first influenced by jazz and classical chamber music before he later turned to larger symphonic works and started experimenting with serialism. Benjamin Frankel (1906-1973) was a British composer and musician. He is best remembered for writing over one hundred film and television scores including The Man In The White Suit and The Battle Of The Bulge but he also wrote eight symphonies and many smaller works such as his ViolinSonata and Concerto which were written for Max Rostal.
