Reaching out to the hearts and musical sensibilities of a wide range of Christian believers, Fr. Tim Valentine’s Rhythm and Rhyme unites both contemporary and classical sounds with inspired texts to create a wonderful new collection of music for the church. I Saw a River delights in the images of water and light through the glorious sounds of a gospel choir, organ and horn section. Translated from one of St. Thomas Aquinas's great hymns to the Eucharist, O Pilgrims' Meal is an ideal communion hymn lending itself easily to unison congreageational singing. Lamentation is a heartbreakingly lovely piece with a Renaissance feel. From contemporary to classical, spirited joy to heartfelt sadness, this great new collection envelops all in the “rhythm and rhyme” of the Church’s song. Contains one each of the following octovos: Rhythm and Rhyme - O Beauty, Ancient and New - Bless the Lord, My Soul - (To Be Is) To Be in Love - I Saw a River - O Pilgrim’s Meal - With the Lord - Have Mercy, Lord - Lamentation - Hymn of the Passion - In Gladness and Thanksgiving - Lead, Kindly Light.

Midwinter Song is a Christmas carol that calls us to love, faith, and hope. With a beautiful and supportive piano accompaniment and accessible vocal lines, this work will appeal to a wide variety of levels. Susan Labarr's Midwinter Song is a new work for Advent or Christmas. Labarr opens the piece with a gentle piano solo that perfectly captures the mystery of the poetry—the words seem to travel out of a time in the deep past and give homage to the neglected art of both rhythm and rhyme. In particular, the description of the world gathering in amber halls in the first verse wonderfully conjures images of medieval casltes or mead halls lit only with firelight and candles, full with the sound of carols.
