A major three-movement work of 23 minutes, Carter Pann’s MERCURY CONCERTO was commissioned for flute virtuoso Christina Jennings, Pann’s colleague at University of Colorado at Boulder. The commission and premiere came from the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra where Jennings is the principal flutist. Pann describes the title as referring to the music’s fleeting virtuosity and mercurial spirit.
