Book 2-The two books contain some 100 songs chosen from the definitive collections of The English Lutenists begun by Edmund Fellowes revised by Thurston Dart and added to by later scholars. They include many favourites and many lesser-known songs by popular composers such as Dowland Campion and Pilkington (no known ancestor of the compiler) as well as some unjustly forgotten such as Corkine Attey and Ferrabosco. Nearly all are for middle-range voice with lute parts transcribed in staff notation. The books have an appropriate preface and a commentary on the words which often throw a penetrating light on Elizabethan and Jacobean life.

Compiled by Joseph Canteloube this book is the first set from the series Chants D'Auvergne. It features three songs including the most famous one “Báïlèro”. This edition written for Voice and Piano contains lyrics in the local dialect “Occitan” with the French translation below. Some directives are given to obtain the correct pronunciation of the language. I. La Pastoura als camps (La Bergère aux champs) / Shepherdess in the fields II. Joseph Canteloube (1879-1957) was a French composer musician and author mainly known for his folk songs and for the series 'Songs from the Auvergne' inspired by the area his family was from.

Each song in this book was selected for its rousing chorus or its pattern of repeated lyrics (so everyone can sing along). Sixty songs are included to enhance any campfire gathering. Guitar chords melody notation and completelyrics are included.
