For a man who quit an established recording career in order to study the fine art of making violins David Bromberg sure knows how to work a room. A veteran sideman to Dylan Ringo Starr and Jerry Jeff Walker as well as a solo performer and bandleader of more than 40 years standing the bearded and bespectacled Bromberg may have kept a low profile through the so-called MTV era. But he didn't sleep through the more recent recording industry implosion and its attendant rise of the Pod People. Rather he took his boundary busting energy back to the live stage with the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank New Jersey playing a big role in this master entertainer's gameplan.The multi-instrumentalist and musicologist has made the Count Basie Theatre a crucial pit stop in his annual tour schedule for each of the last four years ... Score-Roger Nixon's Academic Tribute for Concert Band.Roger Nixon (1921 2009) was an American composer musician and professor of music. During a varied career he composed over 60 worksfor Orchestra Band Choir and Opera. Nixon received multiple awards and honors for his works many of which contain a feel of the rhythms and dances of the early settlers of his native state of California.

As a tribute to those who have fallen in the service of their country this sensitive composition blends two melodic themes that have been developed using a variety of harmonizations and instrumental colors. Ainsi à l?exception des récitatifs la Cantate BWV 207a reprend le tissu musical de la Cantate BWV 207 elle-même fortement inspirée des oncertos brandebourgeois La Cantate BWV 207a est une œuvre datée de 1735 et dédiée à Auguste III roi de Pologne et prince électeur de Saxe. Jean-Sébastien Bach a composé plusieurs œuvres pour le nouveau souverain en appui à sa candidature au poste de compositeur de la Cour titre honorifique qu?Auguste III lui accordera finalement en 1736.Si le texte de la cantate est un rien obséquieux la musique est festive et exploite les couleurs luxuriantes de l'orchestration. Bach joue des possibilités du grand orchestre avec trompettes hautbois d?amour et flûtes. Le chœur final August lebe lebe König ! (?Vive Auguste ! Vive le roi !?) nous révèle un Bach hautement cérémoniel.

Second Movement of A Tribute to Arthur Delamont-Famed bandmaster Arthur Delamont always programmed a hymn in his concerts and Memento is an homage to that proud tradition. Starting with a simple and reverent solo trumpet and introducing other brass instruments one by one the introduction has the sound of a brass band. The woodwinds join in and with the use of rich textures and dynamic scoring the work builds to a powerful climax and then resolves once again with the solo trumpet. Ideal for festival use Memento will give your ensemble an opportunity to explore expression and nuance. The second movement of A Tribute to Arthur Delamont Memento was commissioned by the West Vancouver Youth Band.
