Daniel Steibelt (1765-1823) is known today almost only
for having been the protagonist of a piano challenge
with Ludwig Van Beethoven, in which the enormous
disparity of the comparison appeared evident. However,
it does not seem that the latter has ever composed a
canonically structured fandango (although not of great
inventiveness), like the one we present here.
Therefore, at least in this field, we can recognize a
small point of superiority of the denigrated outsider
towards the great master.
