GIULIANI (MAURO)
Compositor y guitarrista italiano nacido en Bisceglie. Estudió violín, violonchelo y guitarra y con sólo 25 años se convirtió en una celebridad. En 1815 se desplazó a Viena, dónde junto a los pianistas Hummel y Moscheles, el violinista Mayseder y el violonchelista Merk, dio una serie de conciertos en los jardines del Palacio de Schonbrunn. Ese mismo año era el artista oficial de las celebraciones del congreso en Viena. Desarrolló una reputación de pedagogo, y entre sus numerosos alumnos se encontraban Bobrowicz y Horetzky. En 1819 volvió de nuevo a Italia, estableciéndose sucesivamente en Venecia, Roma y finalmente en Nápoles. En 1828 su salud comenzó a deteriorarse y murió en ésta ciudad en 1829. Giuliani compuso 150 obras para guitarra,
destacando los conciertos para guitarra y orquesta, opus 30, 36 y 70; las Rossinianas, opus 119-124 y varias sonatas para violín y guitarra.
