I due più antichi manoscritti del celebre "Spanish Romance" risalgono alla fine del XIX secolo: uno attribuisce il brano a Antonio Rubiro, un altro non firmato reca in calce una nota che afferma che è una "melodia di Sor", pur essendo lo stile assai diverso da quello del chitarrista spagnolo Fernando Sor.
