In the history of music women are not many, and none of
them can say really famous (at least until the
nineteenth century). I thank the managers of "Free
Scores" for having added to the catalog of the site the
names of Beatriz de Dia, Francesca Caccini, Barbara
Strozzi and Maddalena Sirmen. I hope to make known
others in the future.
LYRICS Amore è bandito,
amanti su, su,
è fatto un editto
che amar non sia più.
Forniti gli amori
l’inganno e la frode,
ah ah, più non s’ode
tormenti e rancori.
Il caso è spedito,
amore è bandito,
amanti su su,
è fatto un editto
che amor non sia più.

I love her music, fitting somewhere between the madrigals and the early arias of Monteverdi. Sweet yet strong. Very unforced lyrical style, without later bel canto elaboration. Definite emotional channel of great elegance and beauty.
