Vatroslav Lisinski
Vatroslav Lisinski (1819 - 1854)
Croatie Croatie
Vatroslav Lisinski (8 July 1819 in Zagreb ? 31 May 1854 Zagreb) was a Croatian composer. Lisinski was born Ignaz Fuchs in the family of German Jewish origin. He was one of the founders of the Illyrian movement, the return to Croatian cultural heritage, as a reaction to Magyarisation during Austro-Hungarian rule. Lisinski composed the first Croatian opera, Ljubav i zloba ("Love and Malice", 1846), which he wrote at the urging of Alberto ?triga, and Porin (1851) as well as numerous works for orchestra, choir and soloists. He changed his name from Ignaz Fuchs, to Vatroslav Lisinski.
