(ca. 1700 - after 1741). Worked as organist in parish church Graz (Austria) where in 1727, 1728 and 1731 died 3 of his children. After 1741 we don't have any news about this composer left. After world war 2 in devastated castle Dornava near Ptuj (Slovenia) was found an enormous collection of music manuscripts of profane music for harpsichord and strings, which was once obviouslly a private collection of noble music lover. It could be count Joseph Bernhard von Attems who lived in this beautiful castle between 1754 do 1772.
It seems most pieces were ordered for special occasions, as copies of this music does not exists anywere else. Among this largest collection of manuscript profane music from 18.th. century found in Slovenia there are also 11 larger works of J.M.Steinbacher: 5 brilliant concertos for harpsichord and strings written in 'Vivaldi' style, one Partita for harpsichord and violine, and 5 harpsichord solo partitas.
