About the artist
Originally from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Enrique Gonzalez-Medina has presented new works with soloists, ensembles and orchestras from Mexico, the United States, Italy, and Colombia. He recently finished his "Concertino luminoso", for piano and small orchestra, a commission by the Baja California Orchestra. In 2006 he concluded "El cancionero bajacaliforniano", a songbook collection of 25 settings of poems by five Baja California poets. His opera for children "How Nanita Learned to Make Flan", a 2003 commission by Cincinnati Opera, has had over 250 performances in the United States.
