Carlo Cecere
Carlo Cecere (1706 - 1761)
Italia Italia
Carlo Cecere (November 7, 1706?February 15, 1761) was an Italian composer of operas, concertos and instrumental duets, for instance a mandolin concerto and mandolin duets. He was born in Grottole, and died in Naples. Cecere set at least two Trinchera librettos, including La tavernola abentorosa, to music. Trinchera, not Cecere, was punished because La tavernola abentorosa's satirical portrayal of monastic life was considered a buffoonish mockery. It was the first comic opera written specifically for a monastic audience.
