A memÂber of the AdÂventÂist Church, BlackÂmer was a comÂposÂer and songÂwritÂer. He atÂtendÂed the WilÂbraÂham AcadÂeÂmy, but when it came to muÂsic, he was largeÂly self taught. He wrote his first song at age 16, and went to write over 300 more durÂing his life. He lived mostÂly in SomÂerÂville, MassÂaÂchusetts, near BosÂton, and had a piÂaÂnoÂforÂte buÂsiÂness. He diÂrectÂed the choir at the AdÂvent ChristÂian Church in SomÂerÂville, and was a song leadÂer at the AlÂton Bay camp meetÂings in Lake WinÂneÂpeÂsauÂkee, New HampÂshire (1914-1930). |
