Robert Louis Stevenson (1850 – 1894) was a Scottish
novelist and poet. He inherited a tendency to coughs
and fevers and suffered with illness through much of
his childhood. The family profession was the
construction of lighthouses, Stevenson diverted from
this when he took an interest in the literary
profession: his first publication was "The Pentland
Rising: A Page of History, 1666" which was completed
