Moritz Brosig (1815 - 1887) was a German composer and
organist. He was born in in Fuchswinkel at Patschkau
(Upper Silesia) and lived his life in in Breslau
Germany.
Brosig attended the Breslauer Matthias High School and
then studied music at the Breslau cathedral organist
Franz Wolf . From 1853 to 1884 he was the Wroclaw
cathedral organist and Director of Music and teacher at
the Academic Institute for Church Music and Royal

on churches compositions of the 16th and 17 Century and
later became a professor.
Brosig wrote nine fairs, numerous compositions for the
organ, a Catholic hymn book, piano and cello
compositions, a modulation theory and harmony, which
underwent numerous editions. His students included
Adolf Cebrian , Salomon Jadassohn , Anna Benfey and
Hermann Scholtz.
This Postludium is from Book 1 Opus 56 No.4 of his
Eight Pieces for Organ "Acht Orgelstücke" (Praeludien
in e-moll, C-dur; Postludien in f-moll, d-moll,
Vorspiele zu "Straf mich nicht in deinem Zorn", "Komm
Gott, Schöpfer"; Trios in E-dur, G-dur). This work was
adapted from his earlier work "Festival Prelude in E
Flat Major" Opus 46from Eight Pieces for Organ
different character "Acht Orgelstücke verschiedenen
Charakters" (Praeludien in D-dur, f-moll, G-dur, C-dur,
c-moll, D-dur; Festvorspiel in Es-dur, Praeludium in
g-moll).
Although originally written for Organ, I created this
arrangement for Brass Quintet (Bb Trumpet, French Horn,
Eb Alto Horn, Trombone and F Tuba).
