"Jingle Bells" is a popular Christmas song written by
James Lord Pierpont. Pierpont was born in 1822 in
Boston, Massachusetts and published Jingle Bells in the
autumn of 1857. It was originally published under the
title "One Horse Open Sleigh", and was first performed
in a Sunday school concert on Thanksgiving in Savannah,
Georgia. This song was the first song to be performed
in outer space - by Gemini 6 astronauts Tom Stafford
and Wally Schirra.
