Aguado's time, tablature was still the notation of
choice for Spanish guitarists, Aguado adopted the new
staff notation being used by Frederico Moretti and his
followers like Fernando Sor. He published a guitar
tutor "Escuela de Guitarra" in Madrid, this was later
translated into French. In 1825 Aguado left for Paris
where he became successful as a teacher. He was
friendly with Fernando Sor, and Sor commemorated the
friendship in his work for guitar duet Les Deux Amis
("The Two Friends").
