Liberty Fanfare follows the successful pattern that John Williams has made his own in a series of ceremonial fanfares. The grandeur and energy that are heard in this exciting short work form a juxtaposition and eventual combination of lively fanfare figures together with a broader theme. It’s concise form and simple directness makes a bold opening statement for any concert.

Die Freiheitsstatue im New Yorker Hafen wurde am 28. Oktober 1886 eingeweiht. Liberty Fanfare entstand zur Wiedereinweihung nach der Restauration im Jahr 1986. Sie weist das gleiche erfolgreiche Muster auf, das Williams sich in einer Reihe von festlichen Fanfaren zu eigen gemacht hat, darunter Olympic Fanfare and Theme, Olympic Spirit und Summon the Heroes. Ihre Größe und Energie erwächst aus der Nebeneinanderstellung und letztendlichen Kombination von lebhaften Fanfarefiguren und einem breiteren Thema.
