Although the Lord’s Prayer has been set to music numerous times, this setting for SATB and Piano has been scored as a concert piece, meaning that the text is not sung exactly as a continuous stream after measure 41. The music can be considered rather homophonic up to measure 41, after which the prayer is treated polyphonically. In addition to the piano as accompaniment, a violin marked con sordini is also in the score, and if possible should be included in the performance as it will enhance the expressiveness of the words.
