British Hymn tune The hymn tune, known as THAXTED, was composed by the British composer Gustav Holst in his orchestral suite titled The Planets. In recent years it has been paired with Michael Perry's text, "O God Beyond All Praising," and has regularly been included in a variety of denominational hymnals.
