According to the composer, Thin Ice is meant to evoke "fear that we will tumble into the freezing dark, into truly hostile territory." She also realized that "thin ice is also linked with possibility; with taking a chance, stepping into the unknown, considering what may be disdained or even shocking to others, personally or professionally..and going ahead." Thin Ice received its American premiere on April 16, 2010 at St. Peter's Church in New York City and was performed by Mirian Conti. For advanced players.
