Composed by Henry Purcell. Arranged by Matt Smith. Baroque. Full Performance. Duration 169. Matt Smith #6209705. Published by Matt Smith (A0.1069435).This is a simplified arrangement of the Rondo from The Abdelazer Suite by Henry Purcell for Trombone Quartet.
Abdelazer is a 1676 play by Aphra Behn. Purcell wrote this suite of incidental music in 1695 containing 10 movements, of which the Rondo is the 2nd. This movement was used by Benjamin Britten as the theme for his set of variations The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra , which is probably where you recognise it from.
