This work is from Grieg's Lyric Pieces originally written for piano in 1891. I must confess that this is one of my favorite piano works to play and I've always thought that it would make great concert or recital repertoire for small ensembles. This arrangement for Clarinet Quintet (4 clarinets in Bb and bass clarinet) keeps mostly to the original voicing and style, with the melodic elements flowing between different players.   A convincing performance should be well within the grasp of players of advanced intermediate standard and above (about grade 6/7 ABRSM).
