Published by GuarrineMusic (A0.785934).Old MacDonald- This classic melody is attributed to Thomas d’Ufrey (late 1600’s) with changes in the lyrics several times over the last couple hundred years. This adaption for 3-part string orchestra (violin 2, 3 and viola) and optional piano is in the key of G and uses quarter, half, dotted half, 2 eighths and 4 eighths rhythms. Violin 1 does not go over B, ‘cello and bass go up to B and down to C natural. Dynamics used are p, mf and f and there are several bow lifts. Tempo is ‘Moderato at 108’. Great piece for end of the first year or the fall concert of the second year. Suggested grade: 1/1+.
