Commissioned in 2015 by the South Highland Presbyterian Church Music Ministry in honor of Joyce Jennings, organist 1993-2008.
The introduction is based on motifs taken from the hymn tune. The first variation is for two manuals: solo right hand and soft accompaniment. The second variation is also for two manuals and pedal (it may be played on a single manual, as well). It features a contrapuntal accompaniment with the hymn tune. The third variation is a homophonic setting of the tune alternating with festive flourishes which eventually become the coda for the piece. ca. 4:30
