Composed by David W. Barber. A Cappella,Contemporary,Early Music. 2 pages. David W. Barber #987946. Published by David W. Barber (A0.1404914).

Henry Purcell’s setting of Music for a While, from his music for the play Oedipus, by John Dryden and Nathaniel Lee (1678), was long a staple of my concert repertoire – and hard to match for its elegant and expressive beauty. This choral setting is my own attempt to do justice to the text and to the spirit of Purcell’s original.
