Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Thomas Pickering. Baroque. Recorder Ensemble. 33 pages. Thomas Pickering #6302927. Published by Thomas Pickering (A0.999539).

Kyrie Eleison from Bach's B minor mass arranged for recorder orchestra (9 recorders - AATTTBBBCb). The contrabass recorder part is optional since it mostly doubles the bass 3 part.

Kyrie Eleison is the opening of Bach's glorious B minor mass, and is about 10 minutes worth of rich and chromatic harmony. The use of counterpoint in this movement is stunning, and Bach cleverly repeats the theme over and over in different voices and in different contexts. This is a beautiful baroque piece suitable for any early intermediate recorder ensemble. It was written originally for a choir and a small orchestra, but it works beautifully for the recorder - have a listen!
